Photoshop Tutorial #4– Elliptical Marquee Tool
In this post, I will guide you on how to use the Elliptical Marquee tool in Adobe Photoshop CC. This is a great video dedicated to helping beginners familiarize themselves with Adobe Photoshop CC.
What is the Elliptical Marquee tool? In Photoshop, the Elliptical Marquee tool is one of the most useful tools. This tool allows designers to select shapes such as rectangles, ellipses, as well as rows and columns.

Step #1 — Click and hold the Marquee Tool and select the Elliptical Marquee Tool.
Step #2 — Click and drag Elliptical Marquee Tool to cover majority of the photo.
Step #3 — Go to the Select window and choose Modify then choose Feather.
Step #4 — Choose 150 pixels and press OK. Press Ctrl + Shift + I.
Step #5 — Click the Create new fill or adjustment layer button and select Curves.
Step #6 — Click inside the Curves window and drag it down a bit.
Step #7 — Again, click the Create new fill or adjustment layer button and select Gradient Map.
Step #8 — Select Gradient Editor and click Black, White (should be the third option).
Step #9 — Select the Create new fill or adjustment layer button and select Curves.
Last Step — Click inside the Curves window twice to add two points and drag up a bit.
